A wide range of grassland with patches of dense forests was declared as a sanctuary in 1943 for protection of the variety of flora and fauna. The distance between Bagdogra Airport and Jaldapara- 142.3 km By Rail- The nearest railhead is Madarihat which is 7 Kms away from Jaldapara. There is a vast accessibility of direct trains from Kolkata to Madarihat is available.

Good News! Good News! Good News! In a bid to attract more tourists, West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation (WBTDC) has decided to introduce an AC direct bus connecting Jaldapara and Kolkata. There was no means of transport to reach Jaldapara directly from Kolkata. But with the introduction of the bus people from the city can easily reach the place without any break journey. The bus was to start operating from 10th April 2017. CM Mamata Banerjee flagged off these new AC buses during her official tour to North Bengal.

More Things to Know About the Bus!!

  • The new AC Bus operates every 6 days a week except Wednesday.
  • Every day it will leave Esplanade at 10 am
  • And the same bus will leave Jaldapara the next day at 4 pm.
  • Most importantly travelers will get complimentary food (both veg & non-veg) and water while traveling on this bus.

The Distance from Kolkata to Jaldapara is 745 km which almost takes 22hrs 54minutes to reach.
